Pathogen Detection and Genotyping Kits

Pathogenica's research use only kits for detection and quantification of viral diseases are currently in validation. These kits include human papillomavirus, HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and a wide spectrum of viral infections significant in the management of immunocompromised patients.

Additional kits for bacterial and viral target organisms may be requested from our library of DxSeqTM probes under a fee based pilot project service.

Viral genotypes can reveal the pathogenicity and response to drug therapy for numerous viruses. Existing sequencing tests by PCR are limited to relatively few mutations of interest. Sanger sequencing allows resolution of more mutations, but lacks sensitivity to low abundance variants that are highly important in selecting the correct/most accurate therapeutic regimen.

Pathogenica’s DxSeqTM assays employ next generation sequencing to achieve single molecule sensitivity of viral variants, and do so faster and cheaper than alternative tests, enabling stronger predictive value for researchers and clinicians.

Scientific Consulting

Pathogenica conducts research projects for pharmaceutical, agricultural, and public health customers interested in pathogen detection, human genotyping, human-pathogen interaction, and biosurveillance. Pathogenica offers experimental design, DxSeqTM probe design, and reagents for next-generation sequencing.

The current frontiers in oncology involve enormous amounts of sequencing to stratify patients by somatic and tumor genotype. Pathogenica's DxSeqTM probes scale efficiently from enriching dozens of loci to tens of thousands of regions, enabling early target discovery and focused sample genotyping.

Partnerships and Research Collaborations

Pathogenica and GenomeQuest have partnered to offer combined services for pharmaceutical researchers interested in the synergistic effects of human and pathogen genotype. Published research indicates that human genes play a role in the progression or treatment of diseases such as hepatitis C, human papillomavirus, bacterial meningitis, HIV, and mycobacterial infections. Pathogenica's DxSeqTM probes can detect and genotype viral or bacterial DNA in a sample while simultaneously resolving human genetic markers that may indicate the use of a particular therapy. GenomeQuest's GQ-Dx arms doctors and biologists with powerful computational analyses of the resulting sequencing data.

Pathogenica is also working with collaborators at USAMRIID and Yonsei University to develop additional sequencing-based diagnostics for viral and bacterial infections.
