Agar is not utilized or hydrolyzed by the microorganisms for basic metabolisms, and it remained firm at the incubation temperatures of bacteria (below 40℃). Agar obtained from marine algae has desirable features such as a melting point of 80℃ and Gelling at 42 ℃ is best to use as the solidifying agent.
